This year's event welcomes Mike as our honorary guest. After many conversations with community members and colleagues alike, it became clear that we all wanted to do something to show our support and/or give back in some way. Here’s our chance.
This year’s Tech Expo is all about giving back. All proceeds, generous donations and so forth will go towards cancer research to a couple of organizations hand selected by Mike himself to include Holden Cancer Center at UIHC and Hall Perrine Cancer Center in Cedar Rapids (two organizations instrumental in Mike’s road to recovery). All gifts will support research and patient care which includes funding for people that don’t have the insurance coverage or financial ability to gain access to treatment.
Thank you all, on behalf of everyone at Erb’s – including Mike, for your love and support! Let’s make this event one for the books.
GIVING BACK- The Story
Mike Brogan, former President and CEO of Erb’s Technology Solutions, was diagnosed with Lymphoma. The news came on the brink of a much deserved, highly-anticipated break from the corporate world; rather on November 26th, Mike prepared himself for the unexpected, a positive biopsy from the tumor that was removed from his spinal cord the day prior.
It wasn’t long before a treatment plan was developed which included six chemotherapy infusions (provided by Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center at UIHC). After a trying 4-months of treatment or, “kicking this cancer’s ass,” as Mike always jokingly put it, a scan was performed with results that the cancer was in remission.
Mike has underwent radiation treatments (provided by Hall Perrine Cancer Center), completing his last treatment on the eve of his 61st birthday. And, yes – he’s as ornery as ever.
